Ray’s Health & Wellbeing
Ray’s Health and Wellbeing Association provides a variety of holistic health therapies. Including seated NO HANDS® Chair massage, Talk Therapy and Calicise with Ray Denny and Chromotherapy, Aromatherapy and Sound Healing & Vibroacoustic Therapy with Nzinga Knight.
Our core aim is to promote good mental health and physical wellbeing, we achieve this
through providing activities that may be out of reach for people with lower incomes,
retired and other socially disadvantaged groups, and people who may not be able to
access alternative and complementary therapies. These can include light exercise for
strength and balance, talk therapy for psychological health, transformational massage
treatments, light and sound therapies and bringing people together to combat loneliness
and isolation and nurture a community spirit.
Where appropriate we signpost people to other agencies.
NO HANDS® massage
NO HANDS® massage is deep, relaxing, rejuvenating, nourishing and uplifting. It is a dynamic form of massage conceived and developed by U.K. therapist Gerry Pyves after 20 years of clinical testing.
An incredibly effective tension reliever and relaxer. You sit in a specially designed chair and receive an amazing NO HANDS® massage in just a few minutes. Leaving you totally relaxed and refreshed.
Talk Therapy
Well-being coaching, either one-on-one or in small groups, to improve mental/psychological resilience.
This coaching is based on an informal discussion around the 3 fundamental principles that give us our human experience.
Participants can gain a clear understanding of how our feelings are created and thus how this impacts on our everyday reality. Providing opportunity to create a brighter future.
Calicise
Is a light exercise class – music and movement, not a dance
class.
It is suited primarily to older people but suitable for all, derived from warm up
steps for Colombian Style Salsa to the sounds of Cali Salsa music.
Participants learn a short sequence of Salsa Caleña steps at pace to an upbeat Salsa track. The steps taught can be practiced at home as a fun form of exercise.
Chromotherapy (Colour Therapy)
Chromotherapy is a method of treatment that uses the visible spectrum (colors) of electromagnetic radiation to treat diseases. for those in need of some time out from their daily burdens. To de-stress and soothe. It is relaxing, rejuvenating, nourishing and uplifting.
Chromotherapy has been purported to help with a variety of conditions, including: Stress, Depression, Aggression, High blood pressure, Sleep disorders, Anxiety, Skin infections
Sound healing and Vibroacoustic
As the name suggests, involves using tones—whether music, speech or vibrations—to promote health. The ancient technique has been practiced for centuries, initially as a way to treat mental and physical illness in ancient Egypt. Today, sound therapy is used to promote physical and mental health, and the benefits are multifold. Vibroacoustic Therapy sound healing exercise uses low frequency vibrations to increase cellular movement. This results in higher energy levels, increased mobility and reduced pain and inflammation.
Aromatherapy
Aromatherapy is the practice of using essential oils for therapeutic benefit. Aromatherapy has been used for centuries. When inhaled, the scent molecules in essential oils travel from the olfactory nerves directly to the brain and especially impact the amygdala, the emotional center of the brain.
Delivered in combination with Colour and Sound Therapy or as part of Candle-Making activities, combining colour therapy with aromatherapy and creative and artistic pursuits.
