Art as Therapy

Art Medicine by Queen’s Award Winning Community Interest Company NINE RED Presents…(CIC).

A series of multi-tiered programmes that use arts, performance arts, carnival arts, creative arts therapies, holistic treatments, integrative medicine and other healing approaches to enhance the quality of life, health and well-being.

Art Medicine is creative practices that promote healing, wellness, coping and personal change. Traditional healing arts include music, art, dance/movement, poetry/writing, and drama therapies. These approaches combine artistic expression with psychological awareness and communication and are led by therapists experienced in both areas.

Poetry E.Motion (Poem) is not a workshop itself, it is the method by which all our workshops are delivered and are designed to work similarly to “Pick n Mix” sweets, but this is for workshops.

“In the beginning was the word…” explores how words are sheet music.  Viewing words as soundwaves of energy, emotion, vibration, and frequency highlights the power and energy of words and emotion to shape our reality via our thoughts, words, and actions.

Naz is an interdisciplinary artist whose practice comprises exploring the contrasting yet interconnected elements of words, light, projection, sound and movement to transform and connect people and spaces, using poetry that delivers messages across all levels of awareness.

Using Art Medicine, guided meditation, breathwork and inspired by our own interpretation of the R.E.S.  Poetry Therapy model developed by Mazza.  R-Receptive/Prescriptive – We use words as sheet music: an introduction to literature as sound, E-Expressive/Creative we use writing and symbols as an expression of energy/emotion, and S – Symbolic/Ceremonial we use the creation of word art as digital prints or physical expression.

NINE RED Presents…(C.I.C.) is an institutional member of the National Association of Poetry Therapists.
